At ST Engineering, we have an end-to-end space business. ST Engineering Satellite Systems covers the upstream space business – focused on satellite systems design and manufacturing, while ST Engineering Geo-Insights covers our downstream space business – focused on satellite data and analytics services. In order to grow and scale for our space business we are working on partnerships in our satellite constellation and geospatial analytics and ground station areas. Furthermore, to mitigate our talent challenge in satellite engineering and computer vision exploitation, we are partnering with Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) both locally and overseas. We have also aggressively pursued key partnerships to scale internationally, while internally developing key product lines. In the upstream business, with more than a decade in space design and manufacturing, ST Engineering Satellite Systems have been innovating with our multi-disciplinary expertise in our 3 lines of business: satellite systems, satellite subsystems and engineering services. As we follow best practices in the space industry, complying to ECSS and IPC standards, our customers are assured that their satellite systems can go beyond their design life.

In line with existing industry trends of satellites becoming smaller, lighter and cheaper, we are developing miniaturized low earth orbit satellites that are modular and scalable. Our design enables them to be customizable to a variety of payloads in the market - from earth observation to communications. In the area of subsystems, we provide value-added services in key sub-systems such as the electrical power systems and on-board computers to our end users. An example would be the high security we provide in our on-board computers.

As the need for unbreakable encryption looms in networks around the world, our crypto red-black architecture in our on-board computers helps our customers safeguard and future-proof sensitive information. In the downstream business, ST Engineering Geo-Insights have developed solutions in the areas of Maritime Domain Awareness, Precision Agriculture, Hotspot Monitoring and Infrastructure.

Our Maritime Solution monitors for suspicious activities in waters, including dark vessels, alongside vessels, loitering events and oil spills. By combining AIS, satellite imagery and space-borne RF data, our cloud-based multi-intelligence fusion platform provides accurate monitoring and tracking. Be it authorities, ship owners / managers, or insurance companies, customers are now able to form a concrete report of each vessels’ activities, anytime, anywhere.

In precision agriculture, we have developed a wide suite of precision agriculture solutions, including oil palm management, soil moisture index analysis, crop health analysis, corn crop management, as well as Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Potassium (NPK) fertilizer analysis. Our NPK solution has been proven with coffee and cotton crops, demonstrating high accuracy and high precision. This empowers farmers to make informed decisions to maximize their crop yield and quality, thereby increasing their revenue.

While we continue enhancing our Maritime Domain Awareness and AgriTech dashboards, we have plans to develop a Forestry Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) dashboard. This is in line with our company’s group strategic plans to focus on environmental sustainability as a key business pillar.

We also have set up a new line of business, that will be launched in February 2023. To offer high refresh, low latency global interconnected network to our end users, we have partnered with global ground segment companies to become a partner node in their global network.
